A diversidade genética de fungos micorrízicos arbusculares, recuperados de três estádios de estabilização de dunas, foi avaliada por técnicas moleculares e comparada com resultados obtidos anteriormente por técnicas baseadas na caracterização morfológica dos esporos. O uso da técnica de PCR-RFLP do rDNA, extraído de esporos, permitiu definir impressões características de espécies presentes nas dunas, evidenciar a presença de diferentes comunidades em cada estádio e identificar a anteduna como aquela com comunidades com maior polimorfismo. Esse estádio também apresentou maior diversidade, quando, no estudo das comunidades, foram utilizadas técnicas baseadas em aspectos morfológicos. A combinação de ambas as estratégias, molecular e baseada em aspectos morfológicos, forneceu importantes informações sobre a diversidade destes fungos, visando ao estudo do seu papel no ecossistema.

The genetic diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, recovered from three dune stabilization stages, was evaluated using molecular techniques and compared to results previously obtained by techniques based on morphological spore characterization. The use of the PCR-RFLP technique of spore-extracted rDNA defined the characteristic fingerprint of fungal species in the dunes, identified the presence of different communities at each stage, and detected communities with the highest polymorphism in the intermediate dune. This stage also presented the highest community diversity when morphology-based techniques were used. The combination of both, molecular and morphologically based strategies, provided important information on the diversity of these fungi, thus contributing to the understanding of their role in the ecosystem.

Dos primerios 80 espécimens da sarda examinados (de janeiro a maio de 1982), apenas seis (7,5%) estavam livres de helmintos, apresentando os demais as espécies de parasitos seguintes, por ordem de freqüência dentro de cada grupo taxonômico: Kuhnia scombri (Kuhn, 1829) e Grubea cochlear (Diesing, 1858) (classe Monogenea); Lecithocladium excisum (Rudolph, 1819) e Opechona basillaris (Molin, 1859)(classe Digenea); pelrocercoides de Lacistrorhynchus tenuis (Beneden, 1858) de Scolex pleuronectis (Muller, 1788) e de Echeneibothrium sp. (classe Cestoda); Rhadinorhynchus tenuicornis (Linton, 1891) (filo Acanthocephala); formas dos tipos larvares Anisakis e Contracaecum e ainda, larvas de Goezia sp. (classe Nematoda). São referidas, pela primeira vez, neste hospedeiro, formas larvares do cestóide Echeneibothrium sp. e do nematóide Goezia sp.

Among fishes of importance in the Portuguese diet is the mackerel with a large geographical distribution in the Northern Hemisphere. The authors plan to recover the helminths of this host during the year, for taxonomic, zoogeographic and seasonal variation elements studies of potential importance to Public Health. Only six (7.5%) of the first 80 hosts examined (from January to May 1982) were not parasitized. In this paper we report the presence, by order of their frequency in each taxonomic group, of the following helminths: Kuhnia scombri (Kuhn, 1829) and Grubea cochlear (Diesing, 1858) (class Monogenea); Lecithocladium excisum (Rudolphi, 1819) and Opechona bacillaris (Molin, 1859) (class Digenea); plerocercoids of Lacistorhynchus tenuis (Beneden, 1858), of Scolex pleuronectis (Muller, 1788) and of Echeneibothrium sp. (class Cestoda); Rhadinorhynchus tenuicornis (Linton, 1891) (phylum Acanthocephala); larval forms of Anisakis and Contracaecum as well as larvae of Goezia sp. (class Nematoda).Larval forms of the cestode Echeneibothrium sp. and the nematode Goezia sp. are reported in this host, for the first time.
